Alix-Rose is a freelance art and visual culture writer who specialises in interviewing artists and designers across creative disciplines to write in-depth profiles on their practice and process. In 2014 she was selected as one of Mail and Guardian’s 200 Young South Africans for her eye on creative culture. Alix is also the editor of food and culture zine Chips! published by Studio H. In 2025 she worked as a freelancer within the WePresent team editing stories for their book, Brilliant: Unexpected Art from Everywhere published by Monacelli in 2026.

Photography

Alix-Rose is a photographer with a degree in visual communication and art direction. Her obsession with natural light and colour, and keen eye for detail means she sees images where others don’t. Fashion, beauty, food or decor; genre is less important to her than seeing the ordinary in a new light, whether it’s still life’s that elevate everyday products to new heights or intimately captured fashion portraiture. She recently photographed the cookbook ‘Dressed & Seasoned’, and was shortlisted for a World Food Photo Award.  Alix thrives working right from concept phase to develop the photographic creative direction for brands and campaigns, and can equally fit seamlessly into bringing a creative team or agency's vision to life.
